I have sat here for DAYS now trying to figure out what my first blog post should be about. HA! But, I realize that all great things aren’t going to be perfect when they start, and you gotta just take the leap sometimes.

Kind of like playing guitar for the first time or practicing a foreign language. Honestly, it’s not going to sound good when you’re first starting out, but over time you learn to get better with practice.

Similarly, when I first started my business, I had a canon Rebel t2i with two kit lenses. I shot anything and everything. I’d always ask my friends to model for me while I tried out new techniques or poses. Realizing I had a knack for it (and constant encouragement from my parents), I decided to start my own business.

After second shooting a TONNNN and learning as much as I could from other photographers and business mentors, I finally took the leap. Over time I found my “niche”, and really narrowed down what I love to shoot-couples and weddings.

It’s kind of crazy to see what can happen in a few years. I’ve learned a lot about being a business owner, and each year grown in my craft. My love for photography and photographing people has multiplied each year, and for that I am thankful.

Overall, I am grateful that The Lord has given me the gift to capture people well with my camera, and have it be a means for providing me with work.

Here’s to firsts! I hope you enjoy this blogging journey of mine.
